actual text, not a canvas

The artwork on screen is a stack of real text layers, each one a<pre>. One line per row, no positioned spans. Select it, copy it, or take this snippet and drop it anywhere HTML is allowed.

—
  • 01 One layer, one colour, one text block. Tone comes from glyph density and overlap.
  • 02 Line breaks are the layout. No per-glyph coordinates.
  • 03multiply for ink, screen for light, normal for paint.
  • 04 Proportional fonts work because the browser measures every advance before the optimiser picks a mark.

Embedding copies the font data into the snippet. Check the bundled font's license before sharing it publicly.

01

Typeset, not plotted

Every layer is one block of real text. The browser's font engine measures each advance; the optimiser chooses marks that fit both the image and the line. No glyph is absolutely positioned.

02

Layers, not filters

This is an optimistic homage to typewriter art: overstrike without paper, half-spacing without a platen. Each layer has one ink colour, its own font, and continuous offsets. One layer is an ASCII filter. Three RGB layers are a light painting.

03

Still text

No screenshot at the end. The preview is the artifact. Copy the snippet and the actual lines survive: selectable, searchable, editable, and a little absurd as a paragraph.
